Write Analysis Report with Markdown

Motivation

Data analysis must be reproducible. In this assignment you will conduct reproducible analysis of a data set and write an analysis report using markdown.

Learning Outcomes

Completing this assignment, will give you an opportunity to

• create R Notebooks
• practice markdown
• use embedded R
• analyze a data set
• produce a report

Format

Working is individually is recommended, but working in pairs may be helpful.

Prerequisistes

Prior to working on this assignment, it is suggest that you review these lessons and refer to them during the assignment:

• 6.103 – Vectors & Data Frames in R
• 6.104 – Quick Guide to R For Programmers
• 6.202 – Working with R Projects
• 6.204 – Literate Programming with R Notebooks
• 55.151 – Basics Descriptive Statistical Analysis
• 54.103 – Principles of Explanatory Information Visualization

Tools & Files Needed

• R Studio or posit.cloud
• CSV File: Grades.csv

Setup

Create a new project in R Studio and then, within that project, create a new R Notebook (i.e., a .Rmd file).

Final Deliverable

The final deliverable must an analysis report formatted as close as possible to this (marked up) SampleReport-MarkedUp.pdf.

All data must come from the CSV. You may download the CSV file for inspection.

All numbers in the highlights must be calculated and must update if the data is changed and the report is re-knitted.

Keep the title the same, but change the author’s name to your name and the date to the current semester.
